Secrets flight attendants don’t reveal

Airline secrets that these employees won’t tell you

The main role of airline staff is to ensure the safety of everyone on board. Since they also serve drinks and take care of all the amenities to make the trip a little more comfortable, some passengers feel entitled to say (or do) outrageous things. Flight attendants are highly trained professionals who have seen and heard it all. There are some airline secrets you don’t want to know, but there are some that can make your flight more comfortable.

Airline employees hate passengers who treat them like waiters.
Think the job of airline staff is mainly to provide food and drinks? Think again. «At my airline, employees undergo rigorous training; five weeks, six days a week for about 10 hours a day. It’s very intense,» says one steward. «If you get less than 90% on a written test, you are sent home. The five weeks I spent in training were more difficult than the four years it took me to get my bachelor’s degree.»

Stewardess training includes not only learning the technical details of the aircraft you’ll be flying, but also rigorous safety training: flight attendants learn how to safely evacuate an aircraft and even put out a fire on board. In short: it’s a tough job.

Airline secrets. Food on board
A flight attendant won’t tell you that the food offered by the airline is hopeless for your health. «Even in training we are told that airline food is useless from a nutritional point of view because of the salt, sugar, fat and simple carbohydrates it contains. It’s okay to eat them from time to time, but if you travel often, look for other options.»
